The Burley Griffin
The Burley Griffin, led by Evan Buckley and featuring Canberra's finest talent, are launching their much anticipated new album Lost Limbs. An exhibition of recent works on paper by Canberra-based artist Julie Bradley opens this weekend at Helen Stephens Gallery, Collector. American Psycho
Based on Bret Easton Ellis' 1991 controversial best-selling novel American Psycho and the 2000 film of the same name, this sexy, dark, disturbing and downright hilarious musical tells the story of Patrick Bateman, a young, handsome and wealthy investment banker living in the epicentre of excess: Manhattan during the Wall Street boom of the late 1980s. Patrick and his elite group of friends spend their days in chic restaurants, exclusive clubs and designer labels. But at night, Patrick takes part in a darker indulgence. Wednesday to Friday, 8pm. Shakespeare off the Ruff
Based on a single suggestion from the audience, the Lightbulb Improv company, pictured, creates two fully improvised Shakespearean masterpieces. Hands On 25th Birthday
Founded in 1996, Hands On Studio is a leader in the field of arts and disabilities in the Canberra region. Over the years, the artists who attend the program have collaborated with their peers as well as local and interstate practising artists. It celebrates its 25th birthday with an exhibition at M16 Artspace. Friday, 12pm to 5pm. Continues until July 18.
B&W
M16's studio artists present their annual group exhibition. The theme of this year's M16 Studio Artists' Exhibition is black and white. Included works will be in a range of mediums but will each feature black and white as the focus, major element or colour scheme. Friday, 12pm to 5pm. Continues until July 18.
Finalists announced for Sculpture@Shaw
Sixty finalists have been chosen for the inaugural year of Sculpture@Shaw. More than 150 entries from across the country were submitted to Australia's new sculpture prize worth $25,000, presented by Shaw Wines in Murrumbateman in partnership with Belco Arts.
