A gas mainline that ruptured after it was struck by lightning in Forrest was isolated by ACT Fire and Rescue on Thursday night.

Emergency services were called to Barkly Crescent about 9pm and used high pressure water jets to disperse the gas.
Residents were asked to avoid the area and Barkly Crescent was closed in both directions, before emergency services isolated the gas leak and left the scene before 11pm.
Contractors were working on Thursday night to restore gas to residents in the area, a statement from the Emergency Services Agency said.
The Bureau of Meterology's weather satellite showed lightning activity on Thursday night stretching from north west of the ACT, across central Canberra and down through Braidwood to the coast.
The weather bureau also forecast storms for Friday afternoon.
Lightning strikes are among the most common causes of bushfires, with a severe bushfire danger forecast for Friday and a total fire ban in place for the ACT.
