The Bureau of Meteorology is warning severe thunderstorms could hit the south of the territory between 3pm and 6pm, bringing heavy rain and possible flash flooding.
As of 3.30pm, a severe weather warning has not be issued for Canberra, although that could change if the slow moving storm cell pushes towards the nation's capital.
Bureau forecaster Katarina Kovacevic said Canberrans could expect a burst of rainfall on their afternoon commute and into the early evening, which could make for some "challenging driving conditions".
The bureau has forecast between one and three millimetres of rainfall for the rest of Tuesday.
The nation's capital was lashed by a major storm on Monday night. It dumped more than 31 millimetres of rain between 8.40pm and midnight.
More than 11,000 homes experienced power outages, including in Rivett, Forrest, Griffith, Narrabundah and Queanbeyan
The ACT Emergency Services received 42 requests from help, mostly relating to minor roof damage, fallen trees and localised flooding.
Civic, Braddon and Dickson were the hardest hit during the storm.
