Closed minds on constitutional reforms

The most important lesson from the immediate negative reaction of the government to the report of the Joint Standing Committee on Electoral Matters on section 44 is that it has a closed mind as far as constitutional reform is concerned. That is more significant than the merits of the case for reform of that section, which relates to dual citizenship and other matters such as holding an office of profit under the Crown.
