A Senior Constable has been left with a suspected broken nose after being punched in the face after stopping two vehicles for a random breath test on the Gold Coast.

The 59-year-old man was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment following the incident at Coomera overnight.
Police said the Road Policing Command officer stopped the vehicles about 8.15pm on Friday for random breath tests on Beattie Street.
The drivers, a man and a woman, returned positive roadside breath test results and were seated in the back seat of the police vehicle.
Then it will be alleged that a man who was a passenger in one of the vehicles approached and obstructed the officer.
The male driver allegedly attempted to escape the police vehicle while other officers arrived at the scene to help.
As the Senior Constable approached the vehicle, police said the man punched the officer in the face.
The 28-year-old Coomera man was arrested and charged with one count of serious assault police but had not yet been charged with drink driving.
He will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on February 8.
A 19-year-old Labrador man has been charged with one count of obstructing police and will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on February 4.
A 48-year-old woman has been given a Notice to Appear for obstructing police and drink driving after returning a blood alcohol concentration of .111 per cent.
She will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on February 22.
