The Lodge may be sitting empty for a while after last week's Liberal leadership coup with Prime Minister Scott Morrison giving no indication when or whether he would move into the Deakin residence.

While former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull is expected out by the end of the week, Mr Morrison said he had no immediate plans for his family to move into the Lodge or the second official residence, Sydney's Kirribilli House.
"We’re not thinking about any of that at the moment. We’re just focusing on the job," Mr Morrison said, speaking to ABC Radio Sydney on Sunday.
"I’m still sleeping in my flat down here in Canberra but the family’s going home today. It’s been nice to have them about the last couple of days."
For now, Prime Minister Scott Morrison's Canberra flatmates are assistant minister Steve Irons and assistant treasurer Stuart Robert.
Mr Morrison's spokesman said on Monday that living arrangements had not yet been sorted out, and he gave no indication of when they would be.
Parliament sits again on September 10.
Mr Morrison seized the prime ministership and the keys to the Lodge from Malcolm Turnbull last week after a Liberal party leadership spill.
Mr Turnbull has not yet left the Lodge, after moving in in January 2016 but Fairfax Media understands he will have vacated by the end of the week.
In Sydney, Mr Turnbull resided in his quay-side Point Piper mansion instead of Kirribilli House.
The Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, which oversees the Lodge, said there was no fixed period for former prime ministers to vacate the building.
Mr Turnbull was the first prime minister since Julia Gillard to live in the Lodge, after Ms Gillard called for a $3 million renovation to the building in 2013 which blew out to $12 million under Tony Abbott's prime ministership.
As prime minister Ms Gillard told journalists she had watched possum urine slowly make its way down the wall of the dining room as she sat with a foreign leader before the home was renovated.
Mr Abbott's office repeatedly blocked the release of information on the cost blow outs during his time as prime minister, fearing "negative comments".
An independent review, commissioned by Mr Turnbull after rolling Mr Abbott for the Liberal leadership, found the Abbott government was to blame for the blowout.
Mr Abbott stayed in the Australian Federal Police's Canberra barracks during sitting weeks, with his family residing in the quay-side manor.
The Lodge's first resident was Nationalist party Prime Minister Stanley Bruce in 1927, when his Labor opponent and future-prime minister, James Scullin, described the manor as a "wicked waste of money".
At the time Australia was hit by the Great Depression and Mr Scullin would later refuse to live in it.
The Lodge employs three permanent staff and a number of casuals.
