Democratic seats aren't inherited but politics is a family business

Just as Alexander Downer, the former Australian Foreign Minister, has concluded his term as High Commissioner to London his daughter Georgina Downer is set to be the Liberal Party candidate for the by-election in his former seat of Mayo. If she defeats the Centre Alliance incumbent member Rebekha Sharkie, another Downer will return to Canberra soon.
