Thoroughbred Park Racing Ambassador Kate Speldewinde sported the ultimate accessory to promote this weekend's Black Opal Stakes - a $25,000 neckpiece comprising Lightning Ridge black opals made by Vangeli Manufacturing Jewellers in Woden.

"It was so lovely to wear," she said.
The stunning neckpiece was designed by Catherine Chapman and made by husband Jeff Chapman.
The award-winning jewellery won't be trackside at the Black Opal Stakes, however, safely ensconced in the couple's store, brought out this week to help promote the race day.
"I have had offers for it but I'm not prepared to sell it because you put so much work into it. Perhaps one day," Catherine said.
Kate, meanwhile, posed with 2-year-old colt Mossman Gorge who will be racing in the $300,000 Black Opal Stakes.
She wore a dress by the Mussen boutique in Bunda Street and headpiece by local milliner Christine Waring.
Kate, also one of the judges for Fashion on the Field, says the change in seasons will herald a shift in race day wear.
"There will be heavier fabrics, a lot of felts and leathers, not showy or spring-like in that sense," she said.
And she's looking forward to Canberra's big race day, with a top temperature of 27 degrees forecast for Sunday.
"I'm just excited by the thought of it," she said.
"It's Canberra's premier race day. There are lots of VIP areas like the Deck Marquee, which are really fun.
"And it's exciting to have the horses so close, you're right there on the track. And the fashion, of course, is fantastic."
Gates open at 11.30am on Sunday.
