But here we have the lovely Ali King, a Deakin insurance broker, who is going great guns on Zumbo's Just Desserts. She's now in the top seven (down from the initial 12 contestants) and winner of two desserts of the day titles.

But what's this? Promos for the Prime7 show have revealed Ali having just a little bit of a meltdown in the Zumbo kitchen on Monday night. Say is isn't so Ali!

Ok, she can't let us in on what actually happens but she does reveal some of the drama as the contestants are asked to turn their favourite Arnott's biscuit into a new dessert

"My friends and family saw [ the promo] and they were like, 'Oh, my god!'. And all my work colleagues. I was getting all these messages like, 'Oh my god, I'm crying!'. And I'm like, 'I'm sorry!'," she said.

"By this point in the competition, I think this is when everyone was starting to get exhausted and emotional.

"The filming days are massively long and I think, for me, because I've done particularly well so far, there was a huge amount of pressure I put on myself to perform and do well."

With a $100,000 cash prize up for grabs, there is a considerable amount on the line.

"It was difficult because everyone was quite lovely but by this stage everyone started to realise, 'This is a competition' and the other contestants are your potential threats. I think it started getting real by this stage," she said.

Hosts and judges Adriano Zumbo and Rachel Khoo have been encouraging, just in different ways.

"He is such a nice guy and will help you out and give you tips on how to do things. He really goes to the next step," she said.

"Rachel was probably the harsh judge. And she was the hard one to impress. But they were both super-lovely."

And apart from all the pressures of the cooking, it has also been a little weird getting used to being on national television.

"I remember telling my best friend, 'I don't think I can do this. I don't think I can watch myself on television'. And she was like, 'No, you are watching every single episode with me'," Ali said, with a laugh.

So do they settle down with a glass of wine to watch the show?

"I think I'll need a bottle of wine for Monday," Ali said, with a laugh. "And maybe some vodka."
