Labor's primary vote has plunged to just 30 per cent as voters flood back to a rejuvenated Coalition government under Malcolm Turnbull's new leadership style one month after he replaced the unpopular Tony Abbott as Prime Minister.
Mr Turnbull has more than tripled Bill Shorten's popularity as preferred prime minister at 67 per cent to Mr Shorten's 21 - a dive of 24 points for the Opposition Leader since August, when he was up against Mr Abbott.
- The federal public service could be hit with another round of swingeing cuts to rescue the Budget from a "sea of red ink", according to an economic forecast to be released today.

A Bernard Foley penalty goal wrenched Australia's World Cup campaign from the jaws of death in a thrilling 35-34 victory over a magnificent Scotland at Twickenham on Sunday.
The Wallabies will play Argentina in the World Cup semi-final this weekend but not before Australia regain their composure after the narrowest of escapes against the Scots.

10.23am: One person was taken to Canberra hospital with minor injuries after a car collided with traffic lights at the intersection of the Federal Highway and the Majura Parkway in Gungahlin.
10.03am: Lane one of Horse Park Drive heading into Gungahlin is now open after a single vehicle rollover at the intersection of the Federal Highway and the Majura Parkway. Lane two is still closed.
9.59am: If you're heading down to the Cooma / Jindabyne area, watch out - the Snowy Hydro helicopter has been tasked to a motor vehicle accident on Middlingbank Road near Berridale. More to come.
9.49am: One lane is blocked after a car hit a traffic light and rolled on the Majura Parkway, Gungahlin. Early reports indicate the driver and passengers are ok. Horse Park Drive is closed westbound and traffic is being diverted. Motorists are being asked to avoid the area.
9.45am: Police said the crash on the intersection of the Federal Highway and Majura Parkway, in Gungahlin involves a single vehicle.
9.39am: Be careful if you're planning on driving through the intersection of the Federal Highway and Majura Parkway, in Gungahlin - there's been a crash. More to come.
8.48am: Good news - the motorcycle crash out the front of the Prime Minister's Lodge on Adelaide Avenue at Deakin wasn't serious. Ambulance was called by a passerby who witnessed it and the rider refused treatment. The bike wasn't so lucky however and needed to be towed.
8.15am: There's an ambulance on the scene after a single-vehicle motorcycle crash outside the Prime Minister's Lodge on Adelaide Avenue at Deakin. Traffic isn't too bad at this stage and the bike is off the road.
8.10am: Looks like there's been a car crash on Adelaide Avenue near Deakin. Emergency services are on route.

Safeguarding stretches of the striped legless lizard's native grassland habitat has been the undoing of many redevelopment proposals in the ACT.
A pioneering relocation scheme for the rare reptile is now under way however the ACT government has been quick to quell views moving the vulnerable species would open up development opportunities.
