Dancer Alison Plevey and guitarist Liam Budge took fearlessly to the waters of Lake Burley Griffin on Friday for a photoshoot. Both artists have shows and performances during the one-day festival on March 14.
Art, Not Apart is usually held within the NewActon precinct and surrounds but festival producer Dave Caffery said it would be expanding to the lakefront this year.
He said the Acton beach party was a way of getting people to "jump off their normal perspective", by figuratively and literally leaping into the chilly waters of the lake (he did add that "the swim will also be refreshing").
Cabaret performers Rufino and the Coconuts will be the headline act on the beach. Rufino is a self-professed "Catalan Casanova" and the group's music has been described as "dance music laced with pina coladas".
There will be a series of art installations, performances and market stalls lining the path from the beach party and the "Westside", which will play host to an all-day street party.
A penthouse in the south tower of the NewActon apartment complex will be turned into an art gallery for the day.
Other attractions during Art, Not Apart include dance theatre, performance art, comedy, and a visual art exhibition in the Nishi Gallery.
The Canberra Symphony Orchestra will perform a "short history of classical music" and a group of experts from the Australian National University will showcase "new music".
Art, Not Apart is on Saturday, March 14, at NewActon. See artnotapart.com
