The Crime Stoppers initiative Operation Roam targets alleged offenders who are wanted over murders, sexual assaults, armed robberies and have eluded police.
Some are wanted in more than one state or territory, and many are believed to be hiding interstate.
Many of the fugitives have warrants issued for their arrest, while others are sought over unsolved crimes dating as far back as 1975.
Four of the 20 fugitives on this year's target list have been arrested since the operation began last week.
Police still seek Mark Amosa, 26, in relation to a serious one-punch assault in Civic in April.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest and he remains on the run. He is described as 185 centimetres tall, with a solid build, dark hair and brown eyes.
Uzo Johnson Anajemba, 37, is wanted by ACT Policing in relation to heroin possession. He faced a Canberra court in 2011 but recent information suggests he is currently in Victoria. The Nigerian man is described as solid and 173 centimetres tall, with
Crime Stoppers ACT chairman Bryan Roach encouraged community members to report any information about the whereabouts of any of the fugitives anonymously by phone or online.
"We recognise in our community there are people who have not turned up to court or failed to do so and they've become fugitives.
"We need these people apprehended so [they] can face the charges against them."
Rewards of up to $1000 are on offer for people who provide information which leads to the arrest or conviction of either of the two fugitives connected to the ACT.
Community members should contact Crime Stoppers if they see any of the alleged offenders, but not to approach them.
Last year's operation led to nine arrests, with three fugitives arrested in the first 48 hours.
