1. It's a dog's life
Every dog has its day and this one is at Floriade. Bring your best four-legged friend to Floriade's Dogs' Day Out, where there will be special dog-friendly activities and entertainment as well as a creative grooming showcase, dog yoga, a superhero photo board for dogs and a pooch cafe. It is also the last day of the festival for another year. Sunday, 9am - 6pm. Commonwealth Park. Free event.
2. Game on
A celebration of all things Finnish is coming back to Canberra. The Embassy of Finland will open its doors for Finnish Crazy Games. This year wife-carrying has a new title - the han-carrying competition - using the Finnish third-person neutral pronoun to encourage equality and inclusivity. Other games all include hobbyhorse racing, mobile phone throwing and bucket sneaking - which sees participants race through an obstacle course with buckets of water, trying not to lose a single drop. Attendees will also have the chance to taste Finnish delicacies, take a virtual trip of Finland and watch the first episode of the Moominvalley TV series, which is yet to be released in Australia. Saturday, 10am - 3pm. Free event.
3. Have a laugh
Tanya Hennessy is no stranger to the capital. The former Canberra radio host is bringing her best friend and fellow content creator Christian Hull to the Street Theatre this weekend for their Low Expectations Tour. And the name says it all. The comedians are asking you to lower your expectations and enjoy an hour of silliness, stories and life advice. Friday at 8pm and Saturday at 7pm and 9.30pm. Tickets are $49.90 from thestreet.org.au.
4. Fashionably late
Friday evening will see the National Portrait Gallery opens its doors for the first of four evening soirées. Take a guided tour of the Women in Vogue exhibition at 7pm. This Friday's Fashionably Late event will also see the electronic sounds of Aphir and Peach Lane and a performance by the Australian Dance Party. Friday, 5pm - 8pm. Exhibition ticket required for the tour only. Tickets are $12 from portrait.gov.au.
