The Capitals are preparing for one of the WNBL's most imposing road trips before the league breaks for a FIBA international window.

Coach Paul Goriss, Marianna Tolo, Kia Nurse and Olivia Epoupa are all set to fly abroad on Sunday - a day after rounding out a weekend against the league's top two teams.

First comes a clash with the Southside Flyers in Dandenong on Thursday night before they back up against the Melbourne Boomers on Saturday.

Tolo and Goriss will fly to Kuala Lumpur following the double-header to join Australian camp for the FIBA Asian Pre-Olympic qualifying tournament.

The Opals will face Japan, Chinese Taipei, and India while tournaments run simultaneously in the Pan American and African zones.

Nurse will return to Edmonton to link up with Canada ahead of their games against Cuba, Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic.

Epoupa's French outfit has already booked their place in the next stage of the qualification process but she will travel abroad for a pair of exhibition games.

But Goriss' sights are firmly set on claiming Canberra's first road win of the season and he will not consider managing their workloads as they look to hold a place in the top four.

"Our first priority is with the Caps, obviously knowing on the back end they've still got their [international] qualifiers," Goriss said.

"Mostly it's about us. Tolo, we'll still be managing her minutes because she is coming back from injury, but in regards to Kia and Olivia, no.

"The last time we had a road trip we didn't do quite well. We've got to deal with Southside who are on a five-game winning streak and we've got to go in there as best prepared as we can.

"The weekend is super important, knowing we've got a week off heading into that FIBA window."

Thursday: Southside Flyers v Canberra Capitals at Dandenong Basketball Stadium, 7.30pm.

Saturday: Melbourne Boomers v Canberra Capitals at State Basketball Centre, 7.30pm.
