Capitals coach Paul Goriss also challenged his players to cover the work injured star Kelsey Griffin did.
The Capitals travelled to Perth on Saturday ahead of the WNBL clash against the Lynx on Sunday.
It came off the back of a 78-68 overtime loss to the Adelaide Lightning on Friday night.
Goriss felt they were their own worst enemy against the Lightning, with turnovers proving costly in a game they led for "all but five seconds" of regulation time.
They've dropped to third on the WNBL ladder following the Melbourne Boomers' win over Townsville on Friday, with fourth-placed Lightning just two wins behind.
"Now we get a chance to split the road trip, which we have to do to make sure we continue to stay in that top-four calculation," Goriss said.
"It puts, not any pressure, but it puts a fire in our belly that we've got to go out and perform a little bit better [on Sunday] to get the win to at least split the road trip."

He was full of praise for Capitals co-captain Marianna Tolo, who scored a game-high 22 points with 12 rebounds.
But he felt the "growing pains" of missing Griffin had been evident against Adelaide.
Griffin averages 16.6 points per game and 11.5 rebounds - with the latter proving especially hard to replace.
"With Kelsey being out we have to pick up the slack in boxing out and getting possession plays," Goriss said.
"That's going to be a challenge to our whole playing group is where are we going to get those extra possessions on rebound count at both ends of the floor, because Kelsey's such a high-possession player at both ends.
"I thought we played better than [Adelaide] for a majority of the game ... that was the disappointing part that we ruined it for ourselves."
Goriss said they would look to disrupt the Lynx's fast-tempo game through their defensive transition.
Perth are sixth on the ladder and now two wins behind the Lightning.
"They're quick in transition, they're super fast, they all look to score, they're aggressive in the full court in trying to play an uptempo game," Goriss said.
"So we've really got to slow them down with our defensive transition and making sure we're limiting all their easy baskets."
