President of the National Agricultural Society, Mr M.G Southwell, said this turn out was good news for Canberrans who enjoyed the show and hoped to return as planning for subsequent years events would be able to proceed following its success.
A larger venue with more exhibiting space was recognised as a need in order for the show to increase in success, with Southwell stating "we need a very large exhibition hall where we can stage such things as motor shows and take the overflow from the Trade Fair at the show"
The highlight for many at the show was the shearing competition, which was watched by thousands and hugely popular each year. Also impressive is the cattle parade and ring events. "Many Canberra organisations contributed to the success of the show" Southwell said. "These organisations, working under canvas, gave the show a carnival atmosphere".
The show was brought to a close with a spectacular fireworks display and a showcase display by the Holden Precision Driving Team.
