In reality, the brainchild of Lisa Kunkel is a place for children to meet some of their favourite princesses for their birthday or other special occasions.
"I've always had a passion and a love for celebrating occasions and making an event of an occasion. I did it with my husband and my kids for every birthday since they were little," Kunkel says.
"We'd create a murder mystery or do an event like the Logies or a princess party. I had fun doing that with my children their whole lives and I loved it so much that I started to look at events management.
"I always thought that I would love to have a business where it's in a beautiful location which I was so lucky to find in Federation Square ... to create this magical venue that I feel like you can get lost in when you walk in the doors."
Getting lost in Once Upon a Memory means spending a few hours getting pampered, singing karaoke, or enjoying storytime or crafts, as well as getting DIY lolly bags, and holding a coronation ceremony for the guest of honor.
But according to Kunkel when it comes to hosting a memorable day, it all comes down to the tiny details.
"Every little thing that is in there has been put in there with love and to have an impact on someone. Something that they can look around at and enjoy all of the detail," she says.
"The costumes are made by local talent and the attention to detail in the costumes is absolutely amazing. We wanted them to be like real theme park or real princess costumes."
And how about the princess? What does it take to walk in royal shoes? Most of the team members have had professional singing and acting training, while the rest have had extensive experience working with children and running kids' parties.
"The princesses are very passionate about being princesses," Kunkel says.
"Their makeup is impeccable. They don't just slap on a little bit of makeup and go out there. They really put a lot into how they look because it is important that the little ones feel like [the princesses] are real and we want to then make the little ones feel like real princesses.
"They know they're princess inside and out. If there is a question, they are so good at being on the spot and they will answer it. There has never been a question that my princesses can't answer. They are so passionate that they know it inside and out.
"The look on the little one's faces when they say something and answer a question, and know what they're talking about, they're just so submerged and it's a beautiful thing to watch."
It's an experience that anyone can have this weekend, with Once Upon a Memory is hosting a meet and greet with its princesses on Saturday from noon until 1pm.
"It's our little way of saying come and meet them, come and get a picture with them and come and see what we're about. You can bring your children down to meet a real princess."
