Canberra's Angus Moore has made the heart-wrenching decision to retire from rowing, forfeiting the opportunity to represent his country at next year's postponed Tokyo Olympics.

Moore was part of Australia's Men's Eight team which finished fourth at last year's World Championship, earning the boat a spot at the Tokyo Games which are now scheduled to begin in July of 2021 due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
The Canberra Grammar graduate won two gold medals at the 2014 World Cup in Sydney, and was part of the Australian Men's Eight team which beat England in its own backyard in the 2018 Grand Challenge Cup at the Henley Royal Regatta.
"That fire was starting to burn a little bit less bright and another 12 months was just a step too far," Moore said.
