1. Fangirls
We all know someone who has been a little too obsessed with something, be it a band, movie, or person. Now the life of a super fan plays out on stage in the award-winning Australian musical Fangirls. Part concert and part musical, Fangirls follows 14-year-old Edna who is head over heels in love with Harry. He's beautiful. He's perfect. And he's also the star of the world's biggest boyband. Getting Harry's attention might seem impossible, but there's nothing that Edna won't do to prove to Harry that she's the one. Friday from 7pm, Saturday from 2pm and 7pm and Sunday from 5pm. 2. Lifeline Bookfair
It's the weekend that brings joy to book lovers across the capital - the Lifeline Bookfair weekend. As usual, there will be a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books, children's books, textbooks, foreign language books, magazines, sheet music, comics, maps, atlases, talking books, records, CDs, DVDs, games and jigsaws. Thursday from 9am to 4pm, Friday from 9am to 6pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 4pm. Entry by gold coin donation.
3. Pop Up Boutique
The CBR Woman is bringing some local makers and creators all to one place this weekend so that you can explore some new brands, treat yourself or a friend with a gift, and support small businesses at the same time. There will be fashion, accessories, food and drink, homewares and more on offer on the day. Sunday from 11am to 2pm. The Social Club.
4. Hachiku
Melbourne dream pop outfit Hachiku celebrates the release of their debut album I'll Probably Be Asleep at Gorman Arts Centre this weekend. Sink into the dream pop sounds of Hachiku in an intimate session as they launch their album alongside Canberra acts Paint Store and Yasmine Hosseini. Expect a full band performance showcasing long-time EP favourites, crowd sing-a-longs and fresh tunes off their new LP. Saturday from 7pm. Ralph Wilson Theatre, Gorman Arts Centre. Tickets from $11 from Humanitix.
5. Canberra Model Railway Club Expo
With model train companies, such as German company Marklin seeing a rise in popularity in the COVID world, now is your chance to see what all of the fuss is about. This weekend sees the 32nd Canberra Model Railway Club Expo. Running annually since 1988 - although needing to take a break in 2020, for obvious reasons - the expo is back, bringing with it more than 30 layouts to view, modelling clinics and trade stands, as well as an interactive U-drive for the kids. Saturday, from 9am to 5pm and Sunday, from 9am to 4pm. University of Canberra High School Kaleen.
