The 38-year-old was arrested at about 11.30pm on Tuesday after attempting to flee from police on foot in Gungahlin.
Police say the man was suspected in several offences including stealing a motor vehicle and burglary.
It comes after two cars were stolen this week in the early hours of the morning, as their owners left them idling to warm up and defrost.
In recent weeks, ACT Policing has received reports of several vehicles being stolen in similar circumstances.
Police say the 38-year-old has been identified as a suspect in some of these thefts.
The man will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on charges including driving without a license, burglary and taking a motor vehicle without consent.
More charges are expected to be laid against the man in coming days.
