1. The Sunset Cinema
You know summer must be around the corner because The Sunset Cinema makes its return this weekend. Once again you can enjoy your movies outdoors and under the stars, surrounded by the Australian National Botanic Gardens. This weekend's offerings include a Friday night screening of Red Notice, starring Dwyane "The Rock" Johnson, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds. If you want to make your weekend rock, Johnson also stars in Saturday's offering, The Jungle Cruise, pictured, along with Emily Blunt. Friday and Saturday, gates open at 6.30pm for an 8.30pm start. 2. A Christmas Carol
The festive season is upon us and the true spirit of Christmas is coming to the stage. Canberra REP is bringing Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol to life this weekend. In this rendition, all 30 characters will be brought to life by five actors. Directed by Antonia Kitzel, A Christmas Carol is REP's first production following lockdown and a welcome return to the stage. Friday, from 8pm, Saturday, from 2pm and 8pm, and Sunday, from 2pm. 3. High Jinks
Admit it - you've always wanted to get behind the bar and impress people by creating up your own cocktail. Well, now's your chance. In this interactive session at High Jinks, you'll learn how to make the perfect cocktail while enjoying the exclusivity of the private venue. It's a chance to learn the bartending fundamentals and other trade secrets before getting the chance to create three of High Jinks' signature cocktails for yourself. This golden ticket also gets you beer, wine or bubbles on arrival, as well as an antipasto platter to share for two. Saturday, 3pm. High Jinks. Tickets from $65 from Eventbrite.
4. The Jungle Collective
Who says you don't need another house plant? Surely not your best friend. That's why you should bring them to this weekend's Jungle Collective plant sale - so you can shop without any obstacles. This sale will bring all your plant favourites with a strong focus on indoor plants, tropical plants, and funky tunes. Simply say "Besties for Life" at the registers and you and your bestie will get $5 off your purchases. Saturday, from 8am to 4pm. Sunday, from 10am to 2pm. To register go to Eventbrite.
5. Paws Party
Here's one for you and your four-legged friend. Paws Party takes over Haig Park this weekend, welcoming everyone who loves dogs for a fun morning in the park. There will be dog agility equipment, a Bark B-Q with funds going towards a local charity, coffee and pastries, live music and a paw-laroid photographer. Saturday, from 10am. Haig Park. Free event.
