The local favourite was pipped at the post, with Chicken Chef in South Australia and Pelican Rocks Seafood Restaurant and Cafe in New South Wales ranking first and second, respectively, with Kingsley's walking out with third place.
What was the criteria, you ask? According to Wednesday's announcement, Australia's perfect chip needs to "have that crunch factor while remaining fluffy on the inside, of course.
As for size? While thin chips were slightly more popular, what Aussies are really after is the Goldilocks of chips, "Not too thin, but not too fat."

Wotif was also out to find the country's best jaffle, best country pub, best hotel pool and best national park. Canberra wasn't lucky enough to make the cut as one of the top ten finalists for any of those categories.

Best Country Pub: The Tradies, Dickson
